Brigstowe stands in support and solidarity with trans women, trans men, intersex, non-binary and gender-diverse communities following the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that redefines woman in the Equality Act 2010 to mean biological sex only.
The trans community is disproportionately affected by HIV. We stand with you, as we do with all marginalised groups. Our commitment to promoting equity, diversity, inclusion, and the welfare of people living with HIV remains unchanged.
We recognise that trans people face significant challenges —from daily micro-aggressions, to discrimination, to violent assault as well as a lack of access to gender-affirming care. All these, alongside the Supreme Court ruling, are having a negative impact on the mental health of gender-diverse communities.
As a trans or non-binary person, you can always expect a warm welcome and trans-inclusive services and facilities at Brigstowe. Whether you visit in person, call, or email us, every member of our staff is committed to treating you with the respect and consideration you deserve. Your dignity matters to us.
